Transitioning to Medicare requires that you think about your health care coverage in an entirely different way.
For all of the years that you had individual or group coverage through your employer, it’s likely that your biggest question was “What will I have to pay if I get sick?”. But retirement means that we have entered a different stage of life. And at some point there is an increased likelihood that not only will we get sick, but the cost of care will be large, perhaps even catastrophic.
Few things are more important to a person’s retirement security than Medicare. Yet the system is so complex that most people struggle to gain the knowledge they need to make sound decisions when choosing among the Medicare options.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this course you will learn about Medicare’s three enrollment periods and which might be best for you. You will also discover that there are really only two main paths to take in order to get the right mix of hospital, medical, and prescription drug coverage.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The Medicare POWr course will help you learn how Medicare works and to clearly understand your options. The objective of this course is to provide answers to the main questions of when to enroll, what Medicare parts A, B, C and D consist of, selecting the right drug plan and the differences between Medicare (Medigap) supplement programs and Medicare Advantage plans.
THIS COURSE WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND:
Which of the three enrollment periods is best for you
How to enroll
Part A and B premiums and why some people pay more
Premiums, copays, coinsurance and other out-of-pocket costs
The importance of Medicare “approved amounts”
What is the prescription drug “donut hole” and how to avoid it
Medigap supplemental insurance – when it is or is not needed

COURSE WORKBOOK
Registered attendees receive the interactive Retirement POWr workbook. Throughout the Medicare POWr course, this workbook is referenced and attendees are encouraged to complete sections with the information they have learned. Upon completion of the course, this workbook becomes a simple but valuable resource that attendees can refer to as they make decisions regarding their Medicare.
